Euclides The Captain

Euclides “The Captain” (born 163 AAC) is a captain of the City Watch of the City of Eros, entrusted with the oversight of the city gates and all movement entering and leaving the capital. He first served in the standing army during the Conquest of Braesia (186–191 AAC), where he fought in the brutal campaigns against the Brear and was present at the Siege of Tracabra. During that war he suffered a serious wound but survived, earning a reputation for resilience. A few years later, he took part in the Nemisian Civil War (193–195 AAC), sailing with the emperor’s forces and standing among the troops at the Siege of Nemis.

After the war, Euclides entered the City Watch of Eros and, due to his honorable military career, was appointed directly as captain. In his current position he commands the guards at the city gates, oversees inspections of goods and travelers, and monitors everything that passes in or out of the city. He is known for his rigid discipline and intolerance of inefficiency, which has fostered a lasting dislike of Mendos Shortfoot, whom he considers inherently lazy. Respected for his competence but seldom liked for his severity, Euclides represents the hardened soldier who continues to defend the city long after leaving the battlefield.
