Armurad is a major inland city situated near the Afruta River in the heart of the Empire of Jagrad. Once the capital of the Northern Medryan Kingdom, Armurad held primacy over much of northern Medrya before the unification of the region under the Jagradian crown by Adan “The First”.
Following the rise of Jagrad as the imperial capital, Armurad’s status shifted. Though it no longer serves as the political center of the empire, it remains one of its most strategically vital strongholds, a fortified regional power base anchoring the empire’s interior territories.
Governance
Traditionally, the governance of Armurad is entrusted to a close member of the royal house. The city is administered by a satrap directly appointed by the High King, ensuring both loyalty and dynastic control over this historically powerful region.
The current satrap of Armurad is Sarun “The Red Flame” younger brother of the reigning High King of Jagrad. His appointment reflects both trust and necessity: Armurad’s military significance demands a ruler of unquestioned authority and royal blood.
The Ziggurat and the Warlocks
Armurad is renowned for its monumental Ziggurat of Armurad, the spiritual and arcane heart of the city. The structure dominates the skyline and serves as the seat of the Warlocks of Armurad, a powerful and feared order of practitioners tied to ancient Medryan traditions, who praise the fire god Ashur.
The Warlocks wield considerable influence, both religious and political. Historically intertwined with the royal house, they act as custodians of esoteric knowledge, ritual authority, and imperial legitimacy.
Despite its diminished status as former capital, Armurad remains a city of old prestige — a bastion of Medryan identity within the broader Jagradian imperial framework, and a center where political power and arcane tradition intersect.
